A Snake Catching Guide.

A Snake Catching Guide.

1 - Typically the safest option would be to set a fish trap.
- If you cannot catch it yourself, then you should hire a professional snake expert.
When you have identified the snake positively and know that it is not venomous, then the easiest way is to grab it with thick gloves and hold it for quite some time. Make sure it's in a pillowcase and put it somewhere else.
In the event you don't want to handle the snake, cannot identify it, or can't reach it, the best way to catch it is with a snake hook or snake tongs such as the ones pictured below.

BUT - Most bites occur when you try to catch or kill a snake, so perhaps you should just leave it alone. In most cases, a trap or experienced professional is the best option. You can find both at the bottom of this page.

When you sit bent over in a garden, in the heat of the day, you are likely to be unnerved by a thin, long body suddenly slithering beneath your feet. In addition to liking your garden, the snake has been watching you as you remove rocks and weeds from the ground. When you repeat this scenario often enough, you may become nervous when reaching into a thick clump of vegetables, and eventually you will avoid your garden altogether. Someone who profits from the fruits of their labor would feel awful about their abandonment. I think you should try to catch the snake.

If you want to catch the snake, first determine what kind of serpent it is. It must be handled with a special, if not professional, touch to keep a poisonous snake from dying. The snake must not be poisonous before you can begin.

The first thing you need to do is re-enter your garden. There are snakes there, so you will need to go into this area to catch it. A long branch, yard stick, or fire poker will distract the snake. Make sure your tool is close to the snake's head while keeping the animal's attention. In your other hand, you will grasp the snake's tail. The bulk of the snake's body should remain on the ground. The tail of a snake is not the best place to pick it up! Use your stick to quickly lift the snake's head. Here, one hand should hold the snake's tail and the other hand should hold the stick that holds the snake's head. You will be able to control the reptile's body while not putting your life at risk. Move the snake to a safe area before it is relocated. The animal can also be placed inside a pillowcase to be transported by vehicle to a safe location if you don't have access to a nearby haven. The head of the snake should be gently pointed in the direction you want the snake to travel. Alternatively, if it is in a pillow case, gently wiggle the body out so that it is partially covered. Back away from the pillowcase after you've left it on the ground. The linen may be reclaimed as soon as the snake has fled.

The above method can be too direct, so you can try to shoo it into a large garbage bin. Place a bin on the ground and use a broom to guide the snake inside. Avoid hitting or pushing the snake; you don't want to harm it. A smooth bin will prevent the snake from climbing out and will allow for safe relocation.

To remove snakes from the house, use a pillowcase and a shirt. Place your shirt or light blanket over the snake then scoop it up and put it into the pillowcase. Placing the pillowcase inside a garbage bin or large storage container will allow the snake to come out. Place a lid with air holes on top of the container. Transporting your snake is now safe. You might be wondering, is it safe to handle a snake with just bare hands?

It is safest to remove snakes using a snake trap of professional grade.  logan snake catcher Many traps are worthless, but there are some which have been endorsed by wildlife experts. By using these traps, you will be able to get rid of the snake without having to handle it. Snakes are venomous reptiles and if you do not know the type of snake you are dealing with, a hands-free approach makes the most sense. What should I do after I catch a snake?
